Part I...Body Doc...

The book that I am blogging about is called "Indigo after dark". As I read the first page of the book, it stated a caution sign which I find it very amusing, it simply states as if you're having a vivid imagination, that I can relate to. The caution stated "Reading this book by lonely women may result in extreme stimulation, lust, and exquisite languor. I smiled to myself and said no wonder why my roommate/cousin recommended this book to me, because she believes I am going to the same situation. The table of contents listed all sorts of stories that seem to be realistic that could and is happening to anyone at the moment. I believe the ending of the story is not like any other, it could be very simple or a little exciting, but we will see after reading. As I read through, the first chapter is called "Body Doc". When I saw the title, it made me realize that this story maybe happening at the hospital and probably a relationship with a doctor and a nurse or a doctor with a patient. Moreover, the writer explains her situation and wants to find something passionate and deep, which I figured to myself that my cousin/roommate really knows me well and that it really relates to me. I feel like the writer is someone I've shared a personality with, because she writes as if she could tell what I'm going through, like a romantic-comedic event that fell into a dream as the stories become completed only to a dream. Nia Dixxon, the author was great in stating her ideas, thoughts, and experience. Nia is strongly realistic to me as if she was my sister inside me. In the book, she decides meeting the Body Doc that a friend recommended to her and I, on the other hand, was giggling and said to myself "God, I really believe that it might happen to me and I will fall for it". It was like her friend was my roommate and Nia was me. Furthermore, I laughed out loud as she encountered "Body Doc" and she said in her mind "This brotha had it goin on". I figured she was a African-American. Its as if she was being punched in her lower belly. The words she uses were very entertaining and very elaborate. Body Doc mentions that he paints people from his imagination which I think is very talented and impressive. I really think sometimes I could do that, but with other things. As I read along, Body Doc is very flirtatious and knows what exactly what he's doing. His nature really triggers Nia and I could imagine myself being in that position, I quickly smiled as Nia explains her position on the floor sitting as if you were in yoga while Body sits across about four feet away. Their body language really demonstrates a tension between the two of them and Nia's mind is going crazy. But of course someone is bound to avoid the situation, which Nia was doinf. Oh my god! I was right with Nia when she mentioned that she was a black, She stated that she was a dark skinned don't blush, but I do. I feel like something was happening and it is with an enormous excitement. Just placing myself in Nias position really is nerve wrecking like not knowing what to do, move, or say, but feeling hot as if you have a high fever. Soon, she mentions a song playing in the background titled " Sumthin Sumthin" by Maxwell, so I was curious to find the song  immediately to see if it really does exist. I logged on youtube and found it immediately. I listened to the song and find it very passionate and romantic, which made me realize that deep love does exist in the world after all. I left the song playing and continue to read to see what was going to happen next. Afterwards, I began to imagine that love was about to begin, although her expressions of her feelings led me to believe that this was only happening in her head that cannot be controlled and know what will happen eventually. It just felt as if she never experience this kind of behavior in such a long time and it made me think of my first love. Nia was urging this feeling that cannot be stopped and as I read, it was still definitely her mind taking control and her imagination was powerful. This gave her the idea to look at Body Doc differently and made him much more attractive in every angle. I knew it for awhile that she would give up easily to how she felt even though she mentioned most of her imagination. Eventually, Love was happening in the moment as to how I would explain the situation, it was something very deep. During the romantic event, Nia was overwhelmed and I thought to myself that this is definitely happened to someone somewhere. She was very detailed and descriptive and it really just made my imagination felt as if I owned that experience in a past life. I believe that this section is extremely explicit to readers. In conclusion, the story was very entertaining and I asked myself does it really take someone to actually open a dormant part of yourself like a feeling or tension?

  1. I am so glad that you are connecting to your reading in so many ways. Does it make a difference that you know you'll have to write about what you read?
